ToySECT - Action Figure and Toy Review - 001 Spider-Man: Homecoming Home Made Suit - Marvel Legends

Hello and welcome to ToySECT! First up is the new Marvel Legends Spider-Man: Homecoming Home Made Suit action figure that we first glimpsed in Captain America: Civil War.
So, what's to like here? The design is pretty great in the sense that this is a costume someone would create if they did a lot of dumpster diving. The previous two Spider-Man movie costumes seemed way too advanced for a kid to sew in his spare time in his bedroom. I like that his "super suit" comes from Tony Stark in this new entry. Lots of little details in this sculpt, from the seam on his mask to the drawstring on his sweatpants. The coloring is accurate and he has all the articulation you'd expect from a figure in the Marvel Legends line.

Woohoo!

Not only does he have many points of articulation, but they all have a great range of movement. Many types of poses can be achieved, from web swinging to fighting stances. The extra "hood up" accessory is a nice added piece. The sculpt fits right in with your other Marvel Cinematic Universe toys, but he could also be displayed with their comic version counterparts as well. Petey also comes with two sets of hands: fists and web shooting.

D'ohs!

Here's some of the downsides. No wall crawling hands like in other Spider-Man releases. It would have been nice if Hasbro would have also included an unmasked Tom Holland likeness head as well. There is no build-a-figure in this wave, instead you get a piece of the Vulture's wing. I wish they would have made the Vulture and his wings the build-a-figure. It seems weird that you can buy the Vulture but not have any wings what so ever right out of the package. The waist joint on my figure likes to turn to the left. I'd be curious if this is on all of them or just my sample. As of writing this, I still have not seen this wave in-stores. My sample came from a toy show last month and the dealer I got it from was lucky enough to get his from Amazon. With the movie less than a month away, I expect these to be on the shelves everywhere very soon.

What If...

Hasbro has been good about keeping Spider-Man in circulation in the Marvel Legends line. Great sculpts and lots of accessories (usually) in every release. What could they do to make it better? How 'bout some webbing! I would love to see a webline that he could hold in his fist that attaches with a hook or some other device that would allow him to swing. Maybe some webs that tie up the bad guys would be cool. We did get something like this with Wal-Mart Amazing Spider-Man figure a while back, but he couldn't hold onto them very well.

Finish Him!

I really like this figure, more than I thought I would. He has a lot of personality and is fun to display on your desk. I would rate him 4 out of 5 Donuts. If he had the wall crawling hands and the unmasked portrait he would have gotten a 5 out of 5 for sure. At one per case it may be hard to find at first, but if you see him in the wild snag him.
